Database management

I'm making a duplicate of the database at my job and I'm learning so many SQL terms. Database management is much more terminology than I had imagined. It's a whole world in itself and it's so much more robust than i had thought. But the databases don't have a good way of doing separate files for tables functions and such which can use version control. I'm hoping i just haven't found the program that does it yet.
